These are the final stats for the Spring 2003 season. We won the Sportspark League Championship, the Sportspark Playoffs Tournament, 2 Super Series tournaments, a USSSA Regional Championship, USSSA Texas State Championship and the USSSA New Mexico State Championship. This Bandits’ team is the first Bandit team to win 70 games in a Spring season. Our 91 game total is the most games played by any Bandit team in one season.

2003 Bandits Finish Strong and First – – “One Heartbeat”

The Bandits won two Super Series tournaments, a USSSA tournament in Midland, the Sportspark league title, the Sportspark Playoffs Tournament, the USSSA Texas State Championship and the USSSA New Mexico State Championship. We won 29 out of our last 30 games including the last 27 games in a row! Like we say, “its not where we start, its where we finish” and we finished strong and first. Congratulations Bandits and thanks to our families and friends. Thanks for staying with us through our challenges in the past and those ahead. We are now playing with “One Heartbeat” and we know that, “The Heart of a Champion is always beating but it always remembers to beat as ONE.”

Bandit Selected in First Round of 2003 Baseball Draft

Omar Quintanilla added to his previous honors and was selected in the First Round of the 2003 Major League Baseball Draft. Quintanilla plays for the defending collegiate National Champion Texas Longhorns. Omar played for the Bandits from age 10-17 under Coach Mark Dillon. Quintanilla who plays shortstop has previously been selected as a member of Team USA, named to the Big 12 All-Conference team and named to the Collegiate All American team. Omar spent part of his break last year visiting with the Bandits in their dugout during one of the summer games. In addition Rick Rivas was selected in the 28th round by the Colorado Rockies. Rick played for the Bandits from ages 10-12. He recently completed his freshman year pitching for El Paso Community College.

Josh Hernandez opened the eyes of professional scouts once again and earned his second consecutive selection by Major League Baseball. Josh has completed his first year playing for El Paso Community College earning all conference honors and leading the Tejanos in multiple offensive categories.

Bandits Finish 54-5 in 2000

The Houston Reds defeated the Bandits 8-4 and ended the Bandits season. Justin Luna went 2-3, Robert Gallegos, Anthony Martinez, and John Norris went 1-2. The Bandits first 4 batters got on base and scored in the first inning. Following that first inning the Bandits were able to get 2 hits. The Reds overcame a 4-1 deficit and scored 3 runs in the 3rd. The Bandits finished their season with a record of 54-5.
