Bandits Capture 2002 USSSA State Title
The Bandits won the title in a game that started at 12:15 AM and ended at 1:45 AM. They defeated the All Stars 6-1 in the finals completing a 8-0 record in tournament play. The win provided them with the USSSA West Zone State Championship.
The Bandits defeated the Mariners 15-3 on Friday. On Saturday, they defeated the Players 16-1 at 9 in the mornining and followed with wins over the All Stars 8-3 and the Indians 5-2 to complete a three win day. On Sunday, the Bandits defeated the Sun Devils 14-2, the Angels 9-3 and the Mustangs 13-1 to claim the #1 seed and advance directly to the finals. The Bandits won 4 games on Sunday to claim the crown.
Jonathan Bustamante was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player. In reality, a team effort emerged and the Bandits played some of their best baseball of the year in claiming the state crown.
