Bandits Claim Texas State Crown
June 29, 2003 (Championship Game)
Bandits 3 Angels 2
Kyle Bumpas led off the top of the 6th inning with a double, stole third base and scored what proved to be the winning run on a sacrifice by George Stoltz. The Angels got their lead off batter to third with no outs when Bumpas struck out the next two hitters and then induced a ground ball to shortstop Justin Lopez who threw to Julio Velez at first base for the final out. The Bandits went 5-0 in the tournament and are now 66-11 in 2003. The Bandits repeat as State Champions and won the league and playoff championships for the seventh year in a row.
