Bandits Capture Championship

The Bandits dominated the Blazers 8-0 to win the Sportspark championship. Kyle Bumpas threw a complete game 5 inning shutout allowing only two hits. Bumpas notched thirteen strikeouts and assisted with an out while covering home plate on a passed ball retrieved by catcher Mark Gandara. The Bandits struck with a run in the bottom of the first on a leadoff single by Bumpas followed by two stolen bases and an RBI double by Gandara. The Bandits added a 5-spot in the second inning on a leadoff double by Matthew Sosa followed by a bunt single by Adriel Licon, a walk earned by Nathan Volpi, a single by Chris Rubio and a base clearing triple by Josh Avalos. Gandara again picked up an RBI scoring Avalos with a backside ground ball. In the bottom of the fourth, Bumpas, Avalos, Gandara and Lance Gruber drew 4 consecutive walks to plate run number 7. Brian Hebblethwaite then hit a backside ground ball to score Avalos with the Bandits 8th and final run. Bumpas then struck out the side in the top of the fifth inning to secure the Bandits championship via the “run rule” route. Congratulations for a job well prepared for and executed.
